The Neighborhood Partnership Grant Program was developed in 1997 by the Stark Community Foundation with partners Bank One (now JPMorgan Chase) the City of Canton, and The Repository, in response to problems in the area. It is focused on enabling the people of the City of Canton to discover their community and neighborhood capacities. By 2000, the Foundation supported established and emerging neighborhood leaders through a development process, showing them the methods of planning and implementing strategies for neighborhood improvement. To date all aforementioned partners are still partners in this effort.
New Neighborhood Grants are for new neighborhoods that have not yet received two grants. Large Neighborhood Grants are for established neighborhoods that have already received at least two smaller New Neighborhood Grants. The grant applications for 2009 are now available.
